Who are we: Branson Baits is located in Northern California specializing in saltwater and freshwater plastic baits for quality ling cod, rock cod, cabezon, halibut, striped bass, large mouth, small mouth, spotted bass, mackinaw and lake trout, pike and muskie.

Who runs this gig: My name is Michael Lavoie and I am a salt and fresh water  angler. My fishing passion started at a young age. As I got older my passion for the sport only grew. I am blessed that my family has supported my passion both recreational and tournament style fishing.

Why did I start Branson Baits:  As an avid angler for both leisure and tournament fishing, I was always looking for an edge, a better bait. I went through tons of different baits throughout the years. Most had something about them that I liked but none had all the features I was looking for in a bait. Finally I said to myself, "I'm going to make my own baits" and so I did.

I took the knowledge I gained over the years and I incorporated my these ideas into making better baits. It took almost a year to come up with my first finished swim bait. This swim bait had a huge tail that pushes a ton of water and slowed the baits fall by almost 25% more than other baits in its class. Anyone that knows anything about jigging a bait knows the bite happens on the fall. Having this bait fall slowly on the jig increased hookup ratio tremendously. This bait was everything I wanted in a salt water tourney and recreational swim bait for water under 60'.

So after I finished the swim bait, I went on to make a twin tail scampi with a swim bait body using the same philosophies as the previous bait. Next, I designed a slug style bait. I always wanted to make a stick bait that was tough and long lasting but also produced an action that was irresistible to game fish. There were a few out there but most were too thin and weak or way too thick with almost no action. I finally created a bait that had a "tuning fork" type action. The mixture of the plastic and the design of the tail gave this bait action that needed little to no effort. It was perfect!

Once we had a list of winning designs, I wanted to make them even better with features that fell within the initial designs of the baits. So I created these baits in a tournament series with a RipStop® meshing, scent chamber and a glass rattle molded right into the tails and bodies. They're awesome, tough as nails and produce big time!

I am happy with all the hard work has produced and I will continue to innovate, making better baits for our customers. That's my promise!

How long have we been in business: On November 15th, 2014, we sponsored the Lowrance Rock Fish Classic at Anchor Bay and sold out of our first baits!
